So I read a lot of fanfictions recently and 98% of them were made of crap. Also two books that left you wondering if the author thought their readers were dumb. I hate it how they feel the need to write paragraphs after paragraphs just explaining themselves and the character's motives. That always seems like the author halts the plot to have an intense look at the inner workings of their own damn story/universe. YES WE GOT IT, get on with the story. More showing, less telling.
That kinda also left me wondering how hard could it be? x_x And I found... it's pretty hard. Characterisation without explaining the character first can be a hard job, so no idea if I managed. And yes, ha-ha-ha :| I tried my hand at writing. It's original. But it has Vikings so there's that. Two, in fact. In a longboat, talking during the night before a raid. It's pretty short, and I feel slightly apprehensive about this for it is - truely - just utter nonsense xD
Tell me what you think, did I succeed?
