logeirr: (Watchmen: Rorschach Half)
Damn, I really like the Watchmen movie. I could rewatch it again (for the what? 5th time??) just about now. Unf. Rorschach is still such a fucking sexy surpressed MOFO. HOLY SHIT. ♥♥

I really love this gif, so there. PFFFF

Also, why do yaoi mangakas always place the nipples where they most obviously cannot be? No, it's not right below your collar bone.
Speaking of manga. I can't read them anymore. The panelling is giving me a hard time, the strangely placed speechbubbles and oh, don't get me started on the actual dialogue; because, damn, I swear you need some Super Code to actually understand what these characters are saying/meaning. I read a scanlation recently, one which left me puzzling over what the characters were talking about. I was non the wiser even after 5 or so pages, only that they had sex afterwards and one of them cried. Uh. :C

Saturday is moving day. Going to Leipzig. Wow. 3 months are finally over. They passed faster than expected, after all, although there have been moments where time seemed to stretch into eternity. HRM.

I dreamt of Ian McKellen last night, had a nice convo over tea. *A* Speaking of Traummänner (Prince Charming), I encountered a strange, darkhaired, blue eyed bloke in my dreams several times now. And everytime I fall madly in love with him. He has such gentle hands,... WHO IS HE. WHERE IS HE. I WANT HIM. D:

[livejournal.com profile] salty_catfish gave me the funniest, cutest H/W desktop bg ever (I found it again, Clizzi :D I saved it on LJ! Lucky~)

I am also not sure if I like Loki after all (this has partly to do with the paper I read, [livejournal.com profile] miarr D:). I really don't understand him; I know what his role is in the grandscheme and I know how he plays his part, but that's it. Not why, never why. He is not a vindictive character, there is nothing to avenge for him so... what are his motivations?* x_x
He has become a great enigma to me, and I am a little afraid of him, even. Just like Thor; mighty, irascible Thor... and the other gods, really. They are just out of my grasp of understanding, too big to fathom. There are sides to them that made me feel like Nordic Mythology was an easy game, easy to relate to and laugh about (oh, and I can still laugh. But there is an underlying, troubling feeling now, too and it simply scares me. Can't think too much of it or else... uuuuh.)
Although, of course, they are just second fiddle to the all encompassing WYRD. Not even the gods are above that one, which is even... ugh, it feels like trying to stuff the whole, endless universe into your head. It's simply impossible. Easy as that.

Does this even make sense?

I'll probably delete this entry by tomorrow, I am so out of it ahahaha sleeeeeep ~_~

*BECAUSE HE CAN lol

When did you post this; I was hoping to catch you yesterday and didn't. ;_; GODDAMNIT INTERNET. I need my [livejournal.com profile] lukadron fix! *junkie shakes*

He has become a great enigma to me, and I am a little afraid of him, even.

I agree — and that is as it should be. Loki by his nature defies pidgeonholing and easy comprehension; he is inherently contradictory and confusing. One cannot fit him into a role any more than one can make mercury act like stone. I find this compliant with his nature as a trickster archetype. Quoting bits from my project:

The Trickster lives to ignite change. His primary purpose is to “trick people into a different state of consciousness” as well as “broaden and heighten their vision”, thus liberating them from constricting social norms and expectations (Brooker, 308).

As a character, he resorts to deception and cunning in order to achieve his goals and subvert traditional social norms. [...] The trickster, while often belonging to a larger collective, will simultaneously be set apart from it.

[...]

Along with anarchy and rebellion, the trickster represents the taboo, the forbidden, and the nonconformist. He indulges in behaviours which are outside the norms of decent society—at best frowned upon and at worst ostracized. In order to accomplish his goals, the trickster will never resort to acceptable methods but always strive towards the scandalous and shocking. [...] And yet, in the words of Jung, this archetype “manages to achieve through his stupidity what others fail to accomplish in their best efforts” (Jung, 160).

[...]

The trickster in particular collates into himself a great many roles; he is “a collective shadow figure, a summation of all the inferior traits of character in individuals” (Jung, 177). In other words, he is the embodiment of ‘shadow’—of the forbidden, the unsanctioned, the other.

Sounds like Loki? I think it does. And yes, working with mythical characters, they are all naturally 'larger than life', and it gets pretty intimidating sometimes. I can't remember what his name is atm, but the director of the recent version of Hamlet (the one David Tennant plays in) said something quite ingenious about "mega-characterizations" (larger-than-life characters) and how no one version can encompass all of the characters' sides. Hence the actors must pick and choose what things they want to highlight in their take on the characters; like we are picking and choosing the things we want to emphasize in Loki and Thor, while quietly secreting away the rest.

(I'll find that quote later; it really was wonderful. Also, wow, this comment got really long. Oops.)

MEET UP WITH ME TONIGHT. ♥
